Overview

The Dissertation Fellowship is awarded to a doctoral student (Ph.D./Ed.D./D.M.A.) who has been admitted to candidacy and is in the final stages of the dissertation.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Student must be nominated by the Graduate Program Director.
  2. Student must expect degree conferral by the end of the summer 2019 semester.
  3. Student must not be beyond year five in the graduate program at the time of applying for this Fellowship.
  4. Student must have a minimum 3.7 GPA.

Terms of the Award

Student is not to hold a paid assignment (RA/TA/GA) during the Fellowship award period. Student must be enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Miami during the Fellowship award period. If the Fellowship recipient graduates at the end of the fall semester, then the Fellowship amount will be prorated accordingly.

Number of Fellowship awards per Academic Year: 1

Fellowship award amount: $26,500 if student is enrolled August - May. The amount will be prorated for recipients who graduate at the end of the fall semester.

Fellowship award period: 2018-2019 Academic Year (August - May)

  • Signed support letter from mentor/advisor (If the student's mentor/advisor is also the Graduate Program Director, then this support letter must be submitted by a different UM faculty member.)

  • Research description with evidence of significant progress
  • Dissertation completion timeline with an explanation of how this fellowship would assist in completion
